I Am a Terrible Mother

Caroline's birthday was in November, we had her little girl party in June. Enough said. The party is done and it was lots of fun, so better late than never I guess. Caroline wanted a Chinese princess party. We have two nieces adopted from China, so my girls just love anything Chinese. Rather than favors, each girl got one of these cute little dresses to wear home.

The weekend was crazy busy. I worked frantically in my gardens and cleaning my house so that all the moms bringing their little girls to the party wouldn't think poorly of me. Peer pressure is a wonderful motivator. Frankly if it weren't for the fear of company coming I wouldn't get anything done, and since we live in the country people don't just pop in too often. I would rather spend my time with my husband and kids, or reading, knitting or running, but I also hate to get caught with my house in disarray...I am a complete fraud. I often wonder when I read some of these blogs where everything looks so perfect, is it really that way? Beautiful crafting, fabulous children, lovely homes, lofty reading... is there really a huge mess lurking just outside the range of the camera lens? Anyhow I didn't knit at all last weekend - so of course today rather than cleaning, I'm blogging and knitting. Blogger has been really wonky this morning and it's taking me forever to get this post done...so now I'm done!

I for one do not have a perfect and/or uncluttered home. I make sure that all the pics I post are close-ups for that reason. LOL. I love the dresses! We have a lot of Chinese items here, as my children are half Chinese. :o)
My house always reminds me of chaos, and maybe a little tornado or something. My friends say that you always feel worse about how it looks, and it really isn't that bad. :o) And yours, looks great.

Lovely chinese dresses!
You are not alone! I also do a big clean up when "company"'s coming... the rest of the time, well just don't look in the corners...

Hi Beth! Just noticed your comment on my blog about the toe-up socks. Here is the pattern I use:

Dust bunnies abound in my house. And there are piles of clutter everywhere. My husband says if there is a flat surface in our house it is covered. But my house isn't dirty, just messy.

I always wonder the same thing, Beth. I love looking at other people's crafty/parenting blogs because they're so INSPIRING! My kidlet goes to day care and whatever creativity I have seems pretty pathetic compared to what's out there on the internet. and my house is uncluttered only because we just moved into it and it's too big.

But, we have to start where we are, and any creativity added or enjoyed is a real blessing!

I agree, other people's houses, children, craft and their craft output is completely daunting. I guess it gives you something to aspire to. We are just entering our birthday season, I'm sure my daughter would love a Chinese princess party. Well done!

I really like how I can make my home look like it hasn't been hit by a cyclone (2 year old child) in my blog. I like to look at the pictures and pretend it looks that way all the time.
Love the Chinese birthday party theme. Barney and Bob the Builder are the big guns here.

Generic Viagra is the best choice medicine for erectile dysfunction as it can be taken regardless of the age of the patient and works unhindered with most medicines.
